Tyres By Size
Section Width: The tire's section width is determined by measuring it against the optimum wheel width that it is intended to be used on. The maximum width of the tire's sidewall midpoint is measured in millimetres, and that measurement is made from that point to the same spot on the opposing sidewall.
Aspect Ratio: This represents the sidewall height of the tyre as a proportion of the section width of the tyre. The tire's sidewall height in the above example is equal to 40% of the tire's section width, or 245 x 40% = 98 mm.
Rim Diameter: The wheel flange where the tyre is seated (bead seat region) to the same point on the opposite side is where the rim diameter of the tyre is measured in inches.
